Iowa KidSight is seeking a 50% Clerk III to perform and coordinate clerical work such as examining andevaluating data according to established guidelines requiring a knowledge of both assigned and related work areas under the general supervision of theIowa KidSight program manager and staff. The scheduled hours for this position will be flexible with no more than 20 hours per week. Preferred dates for the position are August 19, 2024, through December 18, 2024, with the possibility for extension.
This position will work with the in-processing, support, follow-up, data collection & reporting, and collaboration involved in providing free children’s vision screenings. Duties may involve the use of personal computers, computer terminals, and a variety of software and/or conventional office equipment. This position may provide functional supervision to student workers or other clerical staff.
Key duties include:
Examine, Evaluate, and Verify Documents:
- Verify documents such as reports, consent forms, purchase orders, invoices, checks, vouchers, or student files for completeness and accuracy.
- Determine conformity to established guidelines or policies.
- Follow up on discrepancies and resolve problems.
- Maintain appropriate files.
- Upload records to EPIC.
- Upload records to IRIS.
Provide Information and Review Inquiries:
- Review inquiries and provide information regarding policies and procedures.
- Requires knowledge of both assigned and related work areas.
Record Keeping and Financial Monitoring:
- Prepare, compile, and maintain records.
- Monitor, verify, and reconcile departmental statements.
- Recognize and resolve problems.
- May prepare cash reports and cash register edits.
Data Integration and Reporting:
- Integrate information and may run routine queries to generate or produce reports.
- Compile and report data from outside the department.
Supervision and Coordination:
- May be asked to coordinate and review the work of other clerical personnel for conformance to established guidelines.
Correspondence and Forms:
- Compose correspondence in response to routine inquiries frequently without instruction or review.
- Initiate and process standardized forms related to the area of assignment.
Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Education Requirements
- High School Diploma
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of University and/or Iowa Lions Club policies, practices, rules, and regulations.
- Database experience.
- Knowledge of EPIC.
Iowa KidSight is a joint project of the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences and the Lions Clubs of Iowa. This joint endeavor provides free vision screenings for children from 6 months through Kindergarten across the State of Iowa and coordinates follow-up with eye care providers if needed.
